The Second Da Nang Asian Film Festival, themed “DANAFF – Asia’s Bridge,” is scheduled to take place from July 2nd to July 6th, 2024. The festival is directed by the People’s Committee of Da Nang City and organized by the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang and related units.

The Opening and Closing Ceremonies, including the Award Ceremony, will be held at the Ariyana Convention Centre Danang and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV) and relayed by Da Nang Television and other national television stations. This special cultural event aims to select and honor outstanding cinematic works rich in human values, featuring new discoveries and unique artistic expressions.

According to the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, DANAFF II will be held in early July instead of May as last year, maintaining the same structure of a professional film festival: Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Award Ceremony, competition programs, international seminars and discussions, artist-audience interactions, the “Nurturing Talent” workshop, visits to monuments, landmarks, and promotion of filming locations.

In the competition categories for Asian and Vietnamese films at the 2024 Da Nang Asian Film Festival, numerous awards will be presented, such as Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

The Asian film category features new films that have never been screened in Asia or globally, as well as successful films that have received significant accolades. In the Vietnamese film category, notable films include debut feature films by young, creative directors: “Cu Li Never Cries” by Pham Ngoc Lan and “Inside the Yellow Cocoon Shell” by Pham Thien An.

This year, DANAFF II will not only screen films in three major theaters but also include two outdoor screening locations on Nhu Nguyet Street and the park in front of the Lien Chieu District Administrative Center, promising a unique and exciting film experience for the audience.

DANAFF II is expected to become a prominent cultural and artistic event, drawing widespread attention from both domestic and international communities to Da Nang City. The partnership and sponsorship from the Ariyana Convention Centre Danang will undoubtedly be a crucial factor, significantly contributing to the success of this event.
