Ariyana Convention Centre Danang Leads Sustainable Development Initiatives in Quang Nam, Vietnam
Da Nang, February 19, 2024 – In a concerted effort to promote sustainable agriculture and community support, Ariyana Convention Centre Danang is collaborating with local associations and government authorities to launch a comprehensive program focused on transforming agricultural practices in the Tr’Hy commune, Tay Giang district, Quang Nam province. Tr’Hy, situated at an elevation of 1200 meters above sea level, predominantly comprises the Co Tu ethnic community, with over half of its households (202 households) falling under the poverty line. This initiative marks a significant step in integrating sustainability into the hotel industry, reinforcing Ariyana’s commitment to environmental conservation and social responsibility.
The pioneering team for this project includes Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Chairman of Da Nang Tourism Association and Chairman of Da Nang Hotel Association; Mr. Andre Pierre Gentzsch, General Manager of Furama – Ariyana Tourism Complex; Mr. Doan Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of Da Nang Culinary Culture Association and Head Chef of Ariyana Convention Centre; Ms. Truong Lan Huong, Managing Director of Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, along with experts and agricultural engineers from Viet Farm, Green Heart, and Sun Food.
The core objective of the program is to assist farmers in Tr’Hy in establishing sustainable development models, eliminating the use of chemical inputs in cultivation, and producing internationally standardized products. Agricultural experts on the project have assessed soil and water quality, provided high-quality plant seeds, and introduced cultivation techniques to ensure safe, high-quality products meeting organic standards, committed to being sourced by Ariyana Convention Centre Danang.
Ms. Truong Lan Huong, Managing Director of Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, shared insights on the tourism aspect: “In MICE tourism sector, both domestic and international travelers are increasingly interested in sustainable development. Therefore, Ariyana Convention Centre Danang’s collaboration with associations and Co Tu farmers on clean agricultural development, and meeting food safety standards, is our strong commitment to sustainable development, contributing to the local community in 2024. Furthermore, the project holds great significance in conserving local genetic food resources and protecting virgin forests in the area, alongside improving the community’s livelihoods.”
Beyond agricultural support, Ms. Huong emphasized marketing initiatives, communication, and training for local farmers to become technology-savvy owners, effectively promoting products, culture, and localities. The goal is to boost community and cultural tourism, thereby enhancing income for local farmers.
Mr. Doan Van Tuan, Head Chef of Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, added that through this trip, he discovered local products that could be served on special menus, providing a unique culinary experience for the Center’s guests. He hopes that with the culinary team’s creative touch, these distinctive ingredients will offer a different culinary experience, encapsulating meaningful stories behind each delicious dish served to both local and international visitors at Ariyana Convention Centre Danang.
Local government officials, including Mr. Tran Van Ta, Director of Agriculture and Rural Development, expressed excitement about the attention and cooperation from Ariyana Convention Centre Danang. He emphasized the importance of organic cultivation and promoting local specialties in remote areas like Tr’Hy. Mr. Ta pledged governmental support for the project’s success in improving the lives of the local community.
Mr. Andre Pierre Gentzsch will utilize the experience gained from successfully organizing numerous international events at Ariyana Convention Centre Danang, from 2017 APEC Summit to hundreds of annual events for multinational corporations and global organizations, to showcase local cuisine to the world, promising to scale and develop the project effectively.
