A virtual workshop to review the pre-feasibility study for building a smart city in Da Nang took place on Wednesday between representatives from the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and leaders of the Da Nang government.
In his remarks at the online event, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Phuoc Son highly appreciated the active support by MLIT and the research team from the Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. for Da Nang to implement the Smart City project supported by Japan ASEAN Mutual Partnership (Smart JAMP) through 3 sub-projects, namely a digital map, a smart urban in the Hi-Tech Park and a pilot public bike rental service.
He highlighted the significance of the pre-feasibility study for a smart city to be an initial basis, laying the firm foundation for the bilateral cooperation between Da Nang and MLIT.
Mr Son hoped that MLIT and its partners would continue to give a helping hand to Da Nang to seek more partners and appeal for funds to implement the project as soon as possible.
He also expressed his hope that the Japanese government, MLIT and partners will lend Da Nang a hand to carry out other projects such as developing the city’s logistics service in connection with the central key economic zone and the East-West Economic Corridor, and promoting post-COVID tourism recovery.
According to MLIT, the pre-feasibility study for the Smart JAMP Danang will be carried out from August 2021 to March 2022.
As for the digital map sub-project, the operation and management of traffic activities in the city will be deployed through the Ecobus app.
Meanwhile, the smart urban sub-project in the Hi-Tech Park will focus on digitizing and exploiting energy sources, especially renewable energy, as well as building digital data on the Hi-Tech Park in real time to manage and conduct investment promotion activities.
For a pilot public bike rental service, the MaaS application (selecting vehicles and optimal routes) will be used to put the bicycle service into operation while managing and regulating other means of transport.
