HCMC – Representatives of Danang’s tourism industry, including the leader of the Tourism Department and travel firms, will join Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific, Asia Pacific’s leading cruise industry event and gateway for the international cruise community, set to take place from October 23 to 25 in Shanghai, China.
In addition to attending seminars and exhibitions, the Danang Department of Tourism will visit and work with cruise line enterprises such as Costa Cruises, Genting Cruise Lines, Shanghai China Youth Travel Services and Shanghai Jingjiang to open the door for domestic firms to cooperate with these partners.
“Danang City has a wealth of potential and available resources to exploit the cruise industry, especially Tien Sa Port, which is expected to become a special-use tourism port in the years to come,” Nguyen Son Thuy, director of Indochina Unique Tourist Co., Ltd, said.
Thuy’s company is one of the firms participating in Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific 2018, with a booth that introduces the Danang port and tour programs. Thuy added that their participation will be an opportunity for not only the firm to seek partners but for Danang City to receive more cruise ships, contributing to the development of the cruise industry.
Thuy also expected the city to invest in this kind of tourism and issue policies supporting enterprises in developing port services.
The central coastal city of Danang will hold a conference on cruise industry development in November to introduce the city’s port potential and infrastructure and discuss orientation and policies needed to foster the tourism sector in the coming period.
Danang welcomed 75 cruise ships, with 94,000 tourists on board, to the city through Tien Sa Port over the January-September period, up 25 ships and 62% of total arrivals year-on-year. Of the number, Chinese arrivals amounted to 81,000 visitors. The number of cruise ships is expected to rise to 120 ships, with some 165,000 tourists, in 2019.
Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific has attracted more than 1,000 attendees from 34 countries specializing in the cruise sector and 193 shipping lines of more than 20 cruise line brands such as Princess Cruises, NYK Cruises, Costa Cruises, Genting Cruise Lines, Holland America Line and Viking Cruises.
