Ariyana Convention Centre Successfully Holds 2017 Apec Summit

The Ariyana Convention Centre set a record in welcoming thousands of delegates attending the APEC Summit in Vietnam.

The Ariyana Convention Centre (ACC) successfully hosted a range of events within the recent APEC Summit in the central city of Da Nang. Within just one week, it set a record in welcoming some 15,000 delegates attending the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), the Vietnam Business Summit (VBS), and the CEO Summit.

The three-day ABAC (November 4th – 6th 2017) meeting was the first activity of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders’ Week, aiming to discuss final preparations for the Dialogue with leaders from APEC member economies and identify activities for 2018.

On November 7th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also presided over the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Business Summit, organized by VCCI, which attracted more than 1,700 attendees in the main hall of the ACC.

The CEO Summit, held at ACC, attracted 2,100 delegates with the attendance of well-known CEOs, including Ms. Sheryl Sandberg from Facebook, Mr. Nathan Blecharczyk from Airbnb as well as APEC leaders such as US President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping; an impressive figure compared to previous CEO Summits held in the Philippines in 2015 and Peru in 2016, which welcomed 1,100 and 800 delegates, respectively.

During the APEC Week in Vietnam, about 80 per cent of events, including major events and associated meetings, took place at the ACC and the Furama Resort Danang.

The ACC was officially opened in mid-October in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and successfully catered to the many events during the APEC Summit 2017 Week.

The APEC Week was the first international event held at the ACC, with the centre leaving a positive impression regarding its arrangements and professional services just three weeks after opening.

With the experience from hosting APEC 2017 and APEC 2006, the ACC and Furama Resort Danang once again affirmed their leading position in Vietnam’s hospitality sector, helping Da Nang and Vietnam raise their profile and prestige in the eyes of international guests.
